Twenty years ago I went to see this play at the Vaudeville Theatre on the Strand in London, Back then it was a small enclosed theatre so it was always going to give the performance of the story more of a creepy feeling.Move forward twenty years to The Curve Leicester, I was worried about thee size of the theatre however the larger audience reactions added to the atmosphere.

So the stage is set, a large wicker laundry basket which acted as a bed a desk and a horse carriage, two chairs and a clothing rail of several outfits.

The two actor’s appear on stage both of whom play several parts of the story, they both give outstanding performances giving an injection of humour to the start of the story before it takes its dark twist in the second half of the show.

The atmosphere was electric and the sound had its desired effect of making you jump, even if you do know the story to this from the movie it does not detract from what your see and hear on stage, I highly recommend to ages from the ages of 12 and up, lots of fun *****
